When to use the simple present passive?
You need to use the simple present passive in formal settings or when the subject is not that important to mention and the result (object) is more important and relevant to be discussed about.
How to use the simple present passive?
You need to follow this structure:
Subject + am/is/are + past participle (verb in the third form) + by (optional).
*he, she, it – (is)
*I – am
*They, we, you – (are)
Let’s have a look at the following examples to understand the idea better:
Example:
She bakes the cakes daily.
Passive voice: the cakes are baked daily.
Explanation:
1)the object needs to be placed as a subject (the cakes).
2)the verb needs to be matched with the object (the cakes are).
3)use the past participle (verb 3): bakes – baked
Example:
He boils the water every morning
Passive voice: The water is boiled.
Explanation:
1)the object is (the water).
2)use (is) because it is an uncountable object
3)use the past participle verb of (boil) which is (boiled).
Example:
He always finishes his work on time.
Passive voice: His work is always finished on time.
Explanation:
1)the object is (his work)
2)use (is) because (work) is uncountable
3)use the past participle of the verb (finish) which is (finished)
