In this blog post, I will share with you some tips and tricks to help you overcome your struggle so you can speak English fast and clearly. The idea is not to speak English fast that no one understands what you say; The idea here isn’t to rush through your words so no one understands you—it’s about mastering the art of speaking with the cadence of native speakers, incorporating well-placed pauses for clarity and emphasis.

Phrases help you speak English fast:

Using phrases in your sentences helps break them into smaller parts, so you can talk without pauses. This is called, ‘the Chunking Technique’, it teaches you how to have a smooth conversation without getting stuck.

let’s have a look at the following example to understand the idea better:

Original Sentence:
I’ve always wanted to visit New York City, but I never had the opportunity to go there.

Chunked Sentence:
I’ve always wanted to visit New York City, but [pause] I never had the opportunity to go there.

Explanation: By having a short pause after (but), you chunk the sentence into two parts, making it easier to manage while speaking. This technique helps you express your thoughts clearly and confidently. Applying this technique to other phrases, connectors, and more enables you to convey your thoughts seamlessly. Remember, the key is to pause and stress the right words for smoother and clearer communication. This ensures you don’t end up with lengthy, breathless sentences that might lose your listener’s attention.

Understanding stress patterns enhances your ability to express yourself better by emphasizing the right syllables and showcasing your newfound confidence.

You can speak English fast by shadowing the way they speak

Shadowing means imitating or mimicking the way someone speaks. So, when you shadow the way they speak, you will be able to refine your overall pronunciation and sound clear to others. This technique helps you mimic rhythm, intonation, and pace. With continuous practice and patience, you will definitely excel in this technique as it not only makes your speech faster, but rather, it enhances your overall fluency.

Well, using linking words such as, ‘well, furthermore, moreover, hence, etc.’ when speaking with others helps you speak English fast and smoothly without any fillers. Native speakers often use contractions and linking to connect words and phrases effortlessly.
